Die, Yuppie scum!

Something my dad was fond of saying, back in the day.
So, tonight, sitting in our new chairs, playing Scrabble on the IPad and watching the kids play soccer. I work on socks between turns. I had made the spouse a sandwich of prosciutto, mozzarella and basil for dinner which (when combined with all the other stuff mentioned above) inspired "when the hell did we turn into the yuppie scum of the new century?"
Here are the socks. I can still make nice socks even after selling my soul, I guess.

Spring forward

Is the pattern but in honor of Daylight Saving time and their color I should call them Fall Back. Making them for a silent auction a local horsefarm is having (they work with therapy horses and austic children). My model volunteers there, so she asked if I'd donate a piece or 2.  This is a link to their flyer for the event - if you're in the area.  Sounds like a  lot of fun and a good cause.

I also just realized I'm doing the pattern wrong. Hmmmm

From the game today

Once again, too hot to knit, but not to take pictures.  That mouth thing he does when he's concentrating on doing something physical, that's all me.  Have I ever mentioned I failed out of ballroom dancing classes?  True story.  Fortunately, this kid doesn't take after me so much that way.

Once again, not dead

But busy. 9th birthday. Start of school for the little one, start of soccer, 5-day virus for him, then for my spouse, start of school year at work, promotion, fighting the virus myself, and today two soccer tournaments back to back. Here are the empty fields between games, my guys are using the facilities. Driving in the car I hear The Splendid Table and people talking about making veggie burgers and wonder whose life that is.

Sadly, I am unable to knit

At practice

Because it's 100+ with the heat index. How sad they look - yes, I'm sitting on a towel because the grass is itchy and full of ants.

Or, not

Well, time is not on the side of my dying the shawl today. More like shopping and cleaning.
And being carefully watched whilst eating cereal for lunch.

Picking up

It's been a while, sorry.
Okay, I'm on pair number 5 of wedding socks

and I have started the first side of the shawl.

Since it's just straight knitting it's very dull. But you can work without looking which is good for movies. We watched _The Blind Side_ with the little one. Whatever you might think of the book and movie, it can make for an educational moment with your 9 year old.
The shawl will be okay, I've never done that much Swiss darning before and I need to pick the right fabric.
Tomorrow is a day at home, I might get the peacock dyed if time allows.
