Sigh.

So, I've decided I need to exercise some discipline and get some things finished before starting on a new beaded stole I have in mind and a bunch of other stuff.
Great - I'll finish Rolfe.
Front and back done, sewed the shoulder seams together, dang kid's too big for it.  Stupid vitamins, stupid growth spurt, stupid living down south with a short sweater season.
Nothing takes the snap out of ambition like something like this.  Darn.
Maybe I'll finish it anyway and give it to his cousin (he never wears sweaters anyway) just to get it out of my life and do it over next year.
I still have my roses pullover, wedding stole, Kinsale, October, Fassett stars, and Kauni cardigan on needles right now and about 5 more ideas pressing forward - a blue waves stole with beads, fun orange socks, bunny blanket/wall hanging, Suri Dream black pull over, white peacock shawl to dye out on the lawn this summer in the GA sun to set the dye . . .
Stupid job.
Crap, gotta go, got a lot to do, don't I?????

Not much to tell

Once again, I'm working on so many things, no one of them is progressing enough to take pictures of.
And my kitchen floor is gross and I should go clean it.  And doing laundry.  But let's be realistic - one totally unfun household chore per workday.
And we got Heavy Rain today, so that's what we'll be doing this evening.
My mom got her gloves in the mail this week and was very excited, esp. about the colors.  She didn't believe it was the exact same pattern I used for Elsie's - colorways sure can have a huge effect, can't they?

If it were a Jeopardy catagory, it would be called

Why the heck are you bothering?????
Kinsale, in black Risata.  Actually, I think it will work when it's done, keep the faith on this one.

Snow day

And I've started Kinsale in black Risata.  It's going to take a little while before there's anything to take pictures of that.

In which I feel old and cranky

Man, am I freakin' sick of knitting fingers.  Luckily for me, I'm on the last one and then no more gloves for a long time.
I think I might have satisfied my desire to work on little, purse sized things for a while.  Just in time for the new soccer season.
I think I'm also cranky because I skipped lunch, which isn't good for me (me + low blood sugar = stupid and groggy) and you really can't catch up on eating at the next meal.  Or I can't, I just feel too full and still run down. So I tend to feel wiped for 48 hours.  How did I make it through my 20's???
Also, I had a class to teach on Internet Legal Research for 40 or so law students, which is very interesting as a topic and fun to teach, but ill-timed as I know the students won't use it for the better part of a year.  So I try to keep it lively and informative.  The shock value of what the big boys charge to search their databases per minute usually gets their attention for a while.

Lotus flowers, new colorway

Title kinda says it all.
I like these, even though they're not my usual colors.  Reminds me of forests in NE in the fall, looking at maple tree colors through a screen of pine trees.
The working of the inner wrist liner going perpendicular to the rest of the glove came out pretty well, though I had to rip out and restart 4 times to get the math just right.  Knitting math and I need a long time to get in synch.  Theoretically I know what to do to calculate gauges and based on that how many sts. I'll need for a given piece, but it never quite works out.
Getting old is nice though.  I knit on the ski machine so I don't mind re-do boring st. st. things because hey, what else am I going to do while walking for 40 minutes and watching MI-5????

Not my usual colors

So, here's October.  Very plain, will have a placket neck, the only interest is the neck and the twisted rib.  Nice soft summer sweater for indoors where the AC is always cranked up way too high.
And now for something completely different . . .
Gloves.
I've rethought how I do the lining.  For this pair, I'm lining them with the Imagination and knitting a strip then grafting it together to make a bracelet, then pick up and knit the outer wrist.
I need to get a little more done before the pictures will make sense.  But it's kind of fun.
And yes, we were watching Monty Python last night.

Stuff - more gloves

So, today seems to be one of those days when it's hard to work up any interest in anything at all. Grey, blah, yuck.
Then I get these in the mail.
The first two will be gloves - it's Munchkin lovely?
The second two are Risata.  The black is for a sweater, the orange for socks.
Kinda helps.
