I haven't done this in a while, but I've been making mittens - with that dyed yarn. I have a basic template for a pattern and I throw together designs when I find something I like. I can post some on Ravelry, once that comes through. In the meantime, here are some pictures - here's my wrist-lined stranded mitten, and below is the inner mitten of a pair of lined mittens - silk and wool on the inside, wool on the outside. Labor intensive, but fun and REALLY WARM.
Hi, your dyed yarn headline brought me in here...my wife has done Kool-Aid dyeing that turned out wonderfully. I really like these colors you're showing us here! Thanks for a neat post.☻☺

Thanks - Kool-Aid dying is really fun. This yarn was actually dyed by my son - the colors are Sonic the Hedgehog, Knuckles, Amy Rose and Tails. It came out really great - kid's a natural. The non toxic-ness is a real plus!
ReplyDeleteI notice that you're in the bead business - just curious, do you know if it's possible to get gemstones with threading holes large enough to knit with - say holes the size of the holes in a size 6 seed bead?
Funny coincidence there, because my son was the dyer's helper with our Kool-Aid dyeing!
ReplyDeleteHere's a link to some gemstone beads with large holes in Rings & Things' online store. Some of these donut, "rondelle" and round beads look knit-able to me. What do you think?☻☺
